Would love your thoughts. Does the current UI slow you down? Are there any fields you never use and wish we would remove?
Having moved the Name fields from the front page is a problem for us, here's why:
The Name fields (especially Last Name) are important in how we track and correlate transactions in our Paypal log with our reservations system.
Without filling out a name field, the Paypal transaction history is just a bunch of numbers.
Yes, we can go to the "More" page to enter the name information, but we really like the fact that it was on the main page and had been since the beginning.
Any thoughts on moving it back?
Thanks.
One more thing... aside from the added keystrokes needed to get to the Name fields in the More page, my concern is for our employees to actually remember to put the information in. Out of sight = out of mind.
And the more I think of it...
If we forget to enter the name information, it would be very, very challenging to research a charge. For example, if someone were to dispute a charge on Paypal... all we have to go by is the date and time, perhaps an email address that might be used to correspond with our reservation records.
I also think it would be nice if the settings panel allowed us to check/uncheck which fields we wish to "require" for a successful transaction. That way I can make sure my employees don't forget to put in an Email and Last Name. (and it would be great if this setting were accessible using the web account to affect all devices, rather than have to make changes on each device.)
OK, that's all for now, really. Thanks!

Hi There,
I'd like to add my vote for the name fields on the front page. Also, all number fields should always switch to the numbers keypad and caps lock should be engaged upon entry to a text field.
Thanks, Love this product.

Name on the front might be nice. But even better would be having this configurable. Someplace in settings, set certain bonus fields as mandatory. (I use Quantum Gateway for example, so the address field is required for AVS.) This way you let the user mark any/all fields as mandatory based on their business needs, and don't allow a charge to be submitted without all the necessary information.
P.S. Please, please, please never turn on caps lock by default. Lower case letters are one of the greatest invention of the 5th century and should not be forgotten. (Or if you really must, make sure it's an option, not a fixed behavior, for those of us WHO DON'T LIKE TO TYPE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME.)

Blair: Sorry that you feel this way about the new version. You're right, in streamlining the UI, we've neglected a few customers and we're addressing this for 3.5. We'll likely be adding back some of the fields like name and address to the home screen. Sorry again for the frustration.
Bryan, thanks for the update. I know that it's probably a stretch to think that *everyone* can be satisfied with any given change, but I like to hear you're trying!
Let me "second" William Arnold's suggestion for making fields on the front page "configurable". I'd imagine a settings screen (or perhaps a page on the website, so that it applied to all devices) which let you make choices for each field:
--- Appears on: 1st Page / 2nd Page / Hidden
--- Required / Not Required to complete transaction
Something like that. I'm sure that takes quite a bit of coding, so I'm not holding my breath. But it is a thought for the future.
Also, Bryan, I have an idea for a feature that I'd rather not post in the public forum. Is there an email address should I send it to?

@Blair, thanks for your patience and understanding (and for your good ideas!). You may reach me directly at bryan at appninjas.com

How about a bit more color contrast on the data entry. The light-blue on blue format looks great inside, but we do business outside in bright conditions (we run boat tours). Having a darker background with stark white letters or the opposite would both be better. I turn my brightness all the way up, but this blue on blue is just difficult in the bright sun. Please take some time to experiment with your app outside in direct midday sun to see what I mean. The larger font is an improvement over the earlier versions, but the color is not (although it looks "nice" inside).
+1 on James Moudry's "Rotate-To-Sign" idea. Clients seem to find the signature panel a bit small for fingertip signing.
+1 also on his idea for item/price/description management via website that would distribute to all linked devices. An added benefit would be the ability to do a system-wide price adjustment or temporary discount.
FWIW, I consider this a 5-star app. There are still things to improve, but the constant updates and improvements combined with the open minded AppNinjas really count for a total 5-star experience. This has become a vital tool for our business.

Great App. 5-stars
+1 to "Rotate-To-Sign"
+1 to "item/price/Description management"
+1 to system-wide price adjustment or discounts. Being able to use multiple would be nice too.
- It would also be nice for those of use with Postal Codes (in Canada) to have the line change to read Postal Code rather than Zip Code
- Under Products it would be nice to have two inputs for taxes rather than under the customer.
- When I click the "more button" to add a client from the address book, any field that doesn't change needs to be erased. ie. some of my clients don't have a second address line so "Suite 1211" stays and I have to erase "Suite 1211" each time.
- Adding a tax% to the client doesn't change the total amount. Again it would be nice to add the taxes to the items as additions to the base price.
Keep up the great work.

And since I'm a Euro customer it's a little disconcerting to see $ in the currency field, even if it's only a label, any chance that it could reference the currency you have chosen?
While I'm at it, any chance the App could work in Landscape Mode? The input fields are a little tiny for my eyesight: )
Overall, 10/10, I LOVE this App : )

Hi Don, yeah, good call there. You should always be able to confirm you're in the right currency by the small "USD" or "EUR" label below the amount. But you're right, the fact the $ stays there makes it seem a little at odds. We'll work something out.
Landscape mode is a great idea. We've been playing around with it as an option and may introduce it in the near future.

really would like to be able to rotate to landscape entry and view mode in both the main transaction screen and the 'more' screen, could then hold it in both hands and use both both thumbs to type much like txting, (and maybe the field names and fields would enlarge ever so slightly?)
am always testing and playing with every new iPhone app hoping it will automatically rotate into landscape and zoom in /zoom out
come to think of it, if we could use the standard iPhone 2 finger 'enlarge' or 'contract' pince gesture to zoom in and out, in portrait or landscape, would be sweet for my over-40 eyes and prob for some of my over-40 customers too. ;-) thanks guys!
