Do I need Swipe Pro or iSwipe Global?

Submitted Mar 01 in FAQs & Solutions

Until recently Swipe Pro was the choice for in US transactions and iSwipe global was for international.

As of it's newest release (version 3.4) Swipe has taken on all the international capabilities of Global.  Swipe now has the ability to select the country code it's operating from and to set the currency type.   Altho iSwipe Global will continue to function and will be supported, our intention is to phase it out, leaving Swipe Pro to neatly fill the roles of both.

So, from this point on, the answer to the question "Do I need Swipe Pro or iSwipe Global?" is "Swipe Pro without a doubt, no matter where you are"

I keep getting Error 10051, 10501, or 10550 (invalid configuration) when I try to process transactions in Live mode using PayPal

These errors usually mean that either you entered your transaction key incorrectly OR your account is set up incorrectly with PayPal. If you are sure you have the correct key and have tried WebFill a few times, please contact PayPal Merchant Support team at:

https://www.paypal.com/contactus

Click Contact By Phone to speak with someone, or you can email them at vt@paypal.com. Tell them what error you are seeing when trying to process transactions through their Website Payments Pro API using Swipe. They usually just have to flip a switch on your account and you're good to go!

Note that from our experience, error 10501 always means that PayPal has not "activated" the "Website Payments Pro" portion of your account. So even if Virtual Terminal works, iSwipe will not work and report this error. Telling them you are getting this error when trying to process through WebSite Payments will allow them to fix it.

Quick tip: as a rule, the PayPal customer support minions won't know what "iSwipe" is, so it's often easier just to tell them you are setting up a "custom shopping cart" and getting those errors. Mentioning the word "iSwipe" will just confuse them and get them stuck in the "I'm sorry, I can't help you with that platform" loop.

I keep getting "Gateway error - this transaction cannot be accepted" when I try to process in Authorize.Net

This error could be caused by several things, but most commonly:

1) Your gateway login or key are incorrect. Please ensure that you are using the API credentials and NOT your login credentials that you use to log into Authorize.Net's control panel. Please use Webfill again and ensure that there is no extra space when you click submit. This fixes the issue for 99% of people. We realize it's a tricky thing to do, but your patience and perseverance will pay off!

2) Your gateway account may be set up incorrectly. Please contact your merchant account provider (Applied Merchant?) so that can look into your account and see if there's a problem. Sometimes accounts are set up to accept "Card Present" transactions only, and this will cause this error.
